California Current Integrated Ecosystem Assessment

Partners and Collaborators

CCIEA collaborators include Federal, State, NGO, Academic, and Tribal partners. Current examples include:

  • Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC). The PFMC has jurisdiction over the 317,690 square mile exclusive economic zone off Washington, Oregon and California, and manages fisheries for about 119 species of salmon, groundfish, coastal pelagic species (sardines, anchovies, and mackerel), and highly migratory species (tunas, sharks, and swordfish).
  • NOAA Fisheries, West Coast Region, Protected Resources Division. NOAA's Protected Resources Division works to conserve, protect, and recover species on the West Coast under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).
  • National Marine Sanctuary System. The Office of National Marine Sanctuaries serves as the trustee for a network of underwater parks throughout the United States and its territories. The West Coast Region includes five of these marine sanctuaries: Olympic Coast, Cordell Bank, Greater Farallones, Monterey Bay, and Channel Islands.
  • West Coast Science Centers under the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), including the Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC), Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC), and Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC).
  • State of Washington, Marine Spatial Plan. The Washington State Ocean Caucus, an interagency team of state natural resource agencies, is tasked with developing a Marine Spatial Plan for Washington's Pacific Coast – from Cape Flattery to Cape Disappointment.
  • Farallon Institute for Advanced Ecosystem Research. The Farallon Institute is a nonprofit scientific organization dedicated to the understanding and preservation of healthy marine ecosystems.
